The Jefferson-Scranton board of education at its Jan. 15 meeting agreed by consensus to move forward with filling a new administrative position for the next school year.
Superintendent Tim Christensen shared a draft of a job posting for an activities director/secondary assistant principal. The positions would combine to be fulltime. “We’ll see what’s available,” Christensen said.
The board discussed the position last summer after AD/teacher Dave Waskow left the district without enough notice to fill the AD position. The AD duties have been filled in the interim by teacher/coach Dean Lansman, secretary Jacque Cunningham and Christensen. The district has not had an assistant high school principal in more than a decade.
The board also accepted the resignation for the purpose of retirement from teacher Cheryl Ellsworth. She was commended for her 10 years of service to the district and in particular for her efforts in development the Read 180 program at the high school.
